Support for The National Garden in Washington DC

The National Garden is a symbol of America’s appreciation of and our respect for nature and our environment. Responding to a vision voiced by George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, and James Madison, the Architect of the Capitol has been authorized by the U.S. Congress to design and construct the National Garden. The National Garden will be located on the Capitol grounds adjacent to the United States Botanic Garden (USBG) Conservatory. Once completed, it will serve as a living laboratory for learning about ourselves through the study and understanding of nature.

Private contributions from citizens and corporations will allow the dream of our founding fathers to become a reality. The Scotts Company is part of a unique group of four Official Founding Sponsors in partnership with The National Fund for the USBG, the organization created to collect private contributions. In addition to leading the effort to raise money to build the National Garden and an endowment to support the USBG’s educational programs, the Founding Sponsors are also helping to increase awareness of the project among gardeners, educators, and the public.
