Won´t fertilizing just mean more mowing and more clippings to deal with?

It depends on the kind of fertilizer you use. Not all lawn fertilizers are the same, and they don’t all have the same effect on your grass. Many fertilizers contain patented slow-release nitrogen to feed your lawn as it needs it, keeping your lawn thick and green, without causing surge growth and excess clippings.

Regular  feedings, combined with regular mowing, will allow you to let the clippings fall back onto the lawn, where they will release a small amount of nutrients as they decompose.
